One of Britain’s favourite rappers is among the acts playing at the first night of the Bedford Park Concerts on Friday August 5.

MC, producer and rapper Dizzee Rascal, who headlines the Friday night, has thrived within the UK scene since the early 2000s, spanning genres from hip hop and grime to dance and bassline.

Having collaborated with the likes of Calvin Harris, Arctic Monkeys and Florence & the Machine, Dizzee has evolved from his grime and garage roots into the mainstream, which has found him featured on the bill for festivals like Glastonbury and Radio 1 Big Weekend numerous times.

His huge hits include I Luv U and Fix Up Look Sharp, as well as his number 1 hit Dance Wiv Me featuring Calvin Harris.

Other hits include further number ones Holiday and Dirtee Disco, as well as Bonkers, which he sang at the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympics to an estimated worldwide audience of nine hundred million.

Supporting Dizzee will be West London pirate radio station Kurupt FM. Starting out on YouTube with their own DIY broadcasts, they won the attention of Roughcut, the producers of The Office. A pilot episode was picked by BBC3, gaining an instant cult following and fans including Ed Sheeran, Chase & Status, JME, Example, Annie Mac and David Hasslehoff.

Grime MC and rapper Wiley, who is often referred to as the Godfather of Grime, is also on the bill. Wiley is considered a pioneer in the English underground music scene with a prolific work rate and a versatile music artist with many crossover hits.

Next on the bill is Jaguar Skills. Honing his craft and love of music for the last 20 years, Jag has kept a mysterious edge to his character.

Completing the line-up is rapper, songwriter, recording artist, producer Ms Dynamite, who is the recipient of the Mercury prize, winner of two Brit awards and three Mobo awards.

Gates open at 5pm. Tickets cost £35. Visit www.bedfordparkconcerts.co.uk to book.
