Forthcoming local concerts

London Central Fellowship Band will perform in Stotfold next week – and tickets cost just £5.

The 35 strong brass band includes three musicians from the town. Its members all have links to the Salvation Army.

The band will be joined by two guest instrumentalists, Dudley Bright, principal trombone for the London Symphony Orchestra, and euphonium player, David Daws (pictured). Both will contribute solo performances on the night.

Tickets for the 7pm concert will be available on the door. It will take place at Etonbury Academy and all proceeds will go to the Salvation Army Annual Appeal.

On Sunday, July 6 Bedford Sinfonia and East Bedfordshire Chamber Choir will perform at St Edmund or St James’ Church in Blunham as part of the Out and About series of concerts.

The orchestra will be playing Corelli’s Concerto Grosso in D and works by Delius and Grieg.

The choir, conducted by David Beer, will sing some a cappella part songs by Elgar and Stanford before joining with the orchestra to perform Vaughan Williams’ Te Deum and Finzi’s God is Gone Up as well as the lighter Spanish Serenade by Elgar.

The concert starts at 3pm and tickets will cost £5 on the door.

Caldecote Music Festival is on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5.

On the Friday at 7.45pm there will be a chamber concert in All Saints’ Church featuring music from the piano, viola, cello, violin, oboe and tenor voice.

There will be a free singing workshop for children aged eight plus and adults on the Saturday from 10.30am to 11.30am. The venue is Caldecote Lower School.

Then on the Saturday evening at Northill Community Singers will perform at the parish church at 7.30pm.

Tickets for over 16s are £5 per concert or £8 for both, available on the door.
