Shannon Express perform charity concert

Shannon Express, the award winning male close harmony chorus from Potton are performing a charity concert, to bring barbershop music to the people of Bedford.

The choir, a group of 40-plus singers, are swapping the Royal Albert Hall to perform at Newnham Middle School, Polhill Avenue, on Saturday.

Having started out in 1978 with just ten men who had gathered together to share their love of singing, Shannon Express are now one of the UK’s leading amateur choirs.

And since starting out the choir became gold medal winners in 1995 and 1998 as National Chorus Champions at the annual convention and twice representing Great Britain at international level in the USA.

At this years national convention, held in Bournemouth, Shannon Express has continued to impress in the world of barbershop by achieving 8th place.

Tickets for Saturday’s event are £8 each (16 years and under £5) and the show begins at 7.30pm, but doors open at 7pm.

All proceeds are being donated to Canine Partners.
