Spring into 2012 with variety programme at MKT

WE haven’t had Christmas yet but Milton Keynes Theatre’s is already announcing their spring programme which is teeming with gloriously up-lifting West End musicals, sensational drama, dazzling dance and breath-taking opera.

You’ll have the time of your life with the first ever national tour of Dirty Dancing in May telling the classic story of Johnny and Baby live on stage.

There’s the brand new divine musical comedy, Sister Act, the multi award-winning Wonderful Town, starring the amazing Connie Fisher, which recreates the bright lights of 1930s New York City to the tune of Leonard Bernstein’s magnificent music, while Save The Last Dance For Me, from the writers of Dreamboats and Petticoats, will take you back to the 60s.

Add into the mix the return of Joseph with Keith Jack and David Essex in All The Fun Of The Fair and you are in for a real musical treat.

There’s drama from The Royal Shakespeare Company return with Shakespeare’s romantic comedy The Taming of the Shrew, Pulitzer prize-winning masterpiece Long Day’s Journey Into Night with David Suchet and Laurie Metcalf and Graham Seed and Michael Simkins in the hilarious Yes Prime Minister.

Matthew Bourne makes a triumphant return with his 20th anniversary production of Nutcracker! Northern Ballet present their enchanting new fairytale production of Beauty and the Beast and you can join Lord of the Dance for the most talked about Irish dance spectacular.

Welsh National Opera present La Traviata (Verdi), Beatrice and Benedict (Berlioz) and Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro; Derren Brown brings his Svengali show for a week-long stay while children can look forward to The Gruffalo and Fireman Sam.
