Blood Brothers makes it debut at Waterside

WILLY Russell’s Blood Brothers is one of the best musicals of all time. There’s laughter and joy, tension and tragedy and I defy anyone not to watch without developing a lump in the throat. It’s a five-tissue weepie that will leave a lasting impression. It’s no wonder audiences book again and again to see this slice of Liverpool life.

Blood Brothers has triumphed across the globe, scooping up four awards for best musical in London and seven Tony nominations on Broadway and this week it has pitched up at The Waterside for a week-long run. Blood Brothers is simply unmissable and unbeatable.

Niki Evans, one of the real success stories of X Factor, stars as Mrs Johnston. After reaching the X Factor final in 2007, Niki has gone on to carve an enviable career in musical theatre. Her portrayal as a single mum struggling to bring up her brood on the mean streets of Liverpool is both powerful and poignant.
