Listen very carefully, don’t miss ‘Allo ‘Allo in Leighton

With 80’s retro making a comeback (fluorescent orange socks anyone?), the award-winning Leighton Buzzard Drama Group has chosen the perfect play for their next production.

Based on the hugely popular TV comedy series, the stage version of ‘Allo ‘Allo will transform Leighton Buzzard Theatre into the French town of Nouvion and the café owned by René Artois (remember the hilarious Gorden Kaye?).

This comedy follows the adventures of René, the hapless café owner in war-torn occupied France, as he and his wife, Edith, struggle to keep for themselves a priceless portrait stolen by the Nazis and kept in a sausage in their cellar.

In this story René is hiding two British airmen and is endeavouring, with the help of the Resistance, to repatriate them.

However, communications with London through a wireless disguised as a cockatoo add to the many embarrassments he endures in the company of his patrons.

Matters come to a head with the news that the Fuhrer is to visit the town and his café becomes filled with tricksters intending to impersonate Hitler before the event.

René will need all the wit he can muster to save his café and his life!

Director Colin Aldous said: “ ‘Allo ‘Allo is one of the greatest all time classics in British sitcom.

“Running for over ten years in the 80s and 90s, there will be many moments when the audience will have fond memories flooding back with the classic lines such as ‘Whata mistake to makea’ and ‘Listen very carefully, I shall say ‘zis only once’.

‘Allo ‘Allo is on at the Leighton Buzzard Theatre on July 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12.
