More than 20 new jobs are being created at an energy recovery facility near Milton Keynes.

Covanta is seeking to fill a range of positions at its Rookery South plant at Stewartby, which will eventually generate enough electricity to power 112,500 homes and businesses.

The company particularly requires electrical and mechanical technicians along with plant operators.

Covanta is said to be a world leader in recovering energy from waste that might otherwise go to landfill.

When fully operational the Stewartby plant, close to the M1 and A1, will process 545,000 tonnes of non-recyclable rubbish each year..

The latest recruitment drive is part of Covanta’s three year build phase that has already created hundreds of jobs and supply chain opportunities. The site should be fully operational next year.

Facility manager Ian Judd said: “This is an exciting time as we start to grow the Rookery South’s operations and maintenance team.

“Our culture is one of inclusion, purpose and teamwork, inspiring our

dedicated professionals to create a world where no waste is ever wasted.”
