Medix Healthcare, which has offered full pharmacy services from Stevenage Old Town for the past ten years, is now offering private screening.

There are two kinds of test available – the PCR test, to find out if you currently have Covid-19, and the antibody test, to confirm if you have previously had it.

The private tests are likely to prove popular with people who cannot get a local NHS slot, or who cannot get one quickly.

The service will also be useful for people returning from abroad, or whose work insists on a confirmed negative test before they can come back into the business.

Speedy service

Jeff Cheung, who runs the pharmacy along with his brother Daniel, says they are proud to be producing this valuable service.

“We think it will appeal to many people … those returning from abroad, who need a negative test before returning to work or school, or those who themselves or whose family members are showing symptoms and need a fast result.”

The Medix team aims to try to test on the day requested and have results back within 48 hours.

Mass testing

They can also supply a specialist team to visit a location for mass testing, for example a care home or corporate event setting.

The costs for the private tests are £150 for the PCR test, and £80 for the antibody test, each carried out in Stevenage.

Medix Pharmacy has been in town for 10 years, and offers a full range of normal pharmacy services, including regular testing and immunisation for travel etc.

To book a slot for testing, call 01438 940654, 07307 023265, or 07716 479454.
