Errol’s always in tune

CLASSIC rock covers will be the order of the day across Chronicle Country this weekend, as bands take to the stage in venues around the area.

Permission will be performing live at The White Horse in Arlesey tomorrow night (Saturday, May 28) while The Greedy B*****ds are set to appear at The Old Oak in Arlesey, also tomorrow night.

Hot and heavy rock will also be the perfect sound for a hot and heavy May evening at the Biggleswade United Working Men’s Club tonight, as The Warning arrive in town.

The Warning are a four-piece rock covers band who play their own versions of favourite tracks, as well as the originals.

Different eras of rock are covered, so songs by acts and artists like Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd will feature as regularly as those from Velvet Revolver and Queens of the Stone Age.

Good time rock and blues, meanwhile, will be on the menu at The Gardener’s Arms in Biggleswade tomorrow, when Tie One On play at the venue.

Pop hits from different decades will fill the air at The Horseshoes in Blunham tonight (Friday, May 27), when solo covers artist Yvette Nowlan performs.

Yvette has a strong and versatile voice and can cater for all tastes, singing favourites from the 1930s right through to the present day.

Arsenal Football Club and Harlequins rugby club are two of the organisations that speak warmly of Leech, a three-piece band that predominantly plays covers.

REM, The White Stripes, Blur and The Jam are just a small selection of the acts that can be heard at a typical Leech gig, and music fans can experience the band’s sound themselves at Potton and District Club tomorrow night.

Popular performer Errol Linton, meanwhile, is set to return to The Ent Shed in Castle Road, Bedford for a charity performance.

Errol is three times winner of the UK Blues Harmonica Player Of The Year award and he has his band play eclectic British blues with a nod to the man himself’s Caribbean heritage.

With a career spanning 20 years Errol has gone from busker to playing slots at The Barbican, in London and the Tokyo Blues Festival.

The gig will take place on June 11 and all proceeds from the £12 entry fee will go to Autism Bedfordshire. To find out more and to buy tickets 07787967972.
