Ernie and Joan Darts of Alexander Road in Wrestlingworth celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on Monday just a few days after Ernie turned 96 years old.
The two married in 1930 after meeting each other at what used to be an apple tree farm.
Ernie worked the land his entire life before retiring at the age of 65 and was also a Prisoner of War in Japan for four years when he was captured in Singapore.
During this time Joan lived with her grandparents but when Ernie was finally released the two contonued their relationship.
They have three daughters, eight grandchildren and another eight great grandchildren.
Ernie said: “The secret to our marriage is to help each other.”
