The show opens on Wednesday, February 24 until Friday, February 26, and will be the first round of the Connections competition, which may see the academy take the production to The National Theatre in London.

The musical is one that has been written for the competition and is based on Vladimir Mayakovsky’s 1929 satire on the destruct of authority and the threat of the independent voice to the socialist system during a time of growing disillusion with the Soviet Union.

There’s a battle of the classes, a wedding, a huge fire and someone unfrozen 50 years after a world war.

A school spokesman said: “Rehearsals are going really well and it is looking amazing. We are taking a collaborative approach and working with the students to create some fantastic stylised scenes. The band has started rehearsing and is equally as good. This is going to be an experience not to be missed.” For tickets, £5 adults, £4 concessions, visit https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/event/EEJHMI
