£11k boost for lymphoma charity from stockbroker team

Staff have taken part in a range of fundraising activities including cake mornings, running events and quiz nights to raise money for the national cancer charity based in New Street.

Sophie Hobart and Isobel Shea, charity fundraisers at The Share Centre, said: “It has been a pleasure working with and raising money for the Lymphoma Association over the last two years.

“In 2016, our colleagues raised more than £11,000 by running marathons, jumping out of planes, completing inflatable obstacle courses, cycling 100km, attending quiz nights and eating their body weights in cake!

“The Share Centre and the Lymphoma Association made a great fundraising team.”

A cheque was presented to the charity by Richard Stone, chief executive of The Share Centre, to Jonathan Pearce, chief executive of the Lymphoma Association.

He said: “We are delighted to have been able to support the Lymphoma Association for the last two years. The money was raised entirely through the efforts and generosity of our great team here in Aylesbury and we had a lot of fun in the process. Each year our staff select a local charity to support and we chose the Lymphoma Association because of the great work they do supporting people and their families in fighting this disease.

“It was a cause close to the heart of several of our staff which made it all the more poignant.”

Sarah Thorn, senior fundraising manager for the Lymphoma Association said: “It really has been a pleasure to work with The Share Centre throughout 2015 and 2016. They were enthusiastic, generous and incredibly passionate about making a difference to people affected by lymphatic cancer.

“Staff at all levels were involved and made us feel a welcome part of their office community. The money raised will go towards our work in supporting people affected by lymphoma.”
