ASDA to assist a homeless charity

A homeless charity will be assisted by a supermarket.

Bedfordshire Housing Link will be one of the good causes for ASDA in Biggleswade’s Chosen by you, Given by us project this December.

Shoppers are given green tokens at the till and they can chose which charity ASDA gives a donation to by putting it in a charity box.

A spokesman for the charity said: “Although we have been working locally for some time there are probably still many who do not know us.

“Bedfordshire Housing Link is an independent charity focused on supporting single homeless people.

“We have been operating for over 37 years. We support single homeless people to achieve and sustain an independent life.

“To complement our service we have a project which helps individuals with the necessary education and training to enter or re-enter the workplace.

“With the economic climate more people are facing homelessness and hardship; we are being stretched like never before.

“We ask people to remember that there is real hardship right now, right outside their front doors and ask them to remember a local charity like BHL and not only just at Christmas time.”
