The Biggleswade shop, which is open every day except Sundays, was also decorated with balloons to mark the grand occasion.

The bakery, which was set up by proprietor David Gunns, who still runs the business, is one of a chain of three.

The original branch is in Sandy Market Square and this is where the bread is baked and the cakes are created.

The Sandy branch has been open for more than 40 years.

Most recently the branch expanded into Bedford where there has been a small shop in St Paul’s Square for the last 13 years.
