Funds were raised when the 1st Sandy Swan Beavers held their third coffee evening for MacMillan Cancer Care.
The event, held on Wednesday, September 23, raised £88.01. A raffle was held for the Scout Groups 2015 charity – the Teenage Cancer Trust and this raised £72. The Sandy Carnival’s Prince Kaspar and Princess Ella were in attendance.
Mayor Will Jackson also joined the event with his wife Sue, and he won the Teddy Bears Birthday competition.
The event was also supported by many of the Beavers family members and friends, the GSL Andrew Woods, district commissioner Gerry Pope, and district members Bill Mapletoft, Dave Bridges and Keith Downing. The district commissioner presented Maureen Fairweather with her 30 years service award.
A spokesman for the group said: “We’d like to thank everyone who supported the Beavers on the evening and for the many raffle prizes and cakes we were given – without these the event wouldn’t have taken place.”
