Benjamin Daniels, a 14-year-old pupil at Samuel Whitbread Academy in Clifton, was nominated for this year’s Young Person of The Year award (Yopey) for all the volunteering work he does in the local community.

He was invited to attend the regional final awards ceremony at the University of Bedfordshire, hosted by Tony Gearing, YOPEY founder.

Benjamin was awarded £50 to go to one of the organisations that he supports. He has helped run an after school sports club every Monday at Gothic Mede Academy in Arlesey for nearly two years, as well as helping run clubs at other local schools.

He therefore decided to donate the money to help buy new sports equipment for Gothic Mede.

Derek Archer, principal, thanked Benj for all his hard work and dedication supporting pupils at the school and said that he is an excellent role model.
