Biggleswade warehouse for volunteers to use

ORGANISERS of this year’s Operation Christmas Child (OCC) appeal in Chronicle Country are celebrating after they found a warehouse to use.

Barbara Farquhar, OCC co-ordinator for the SG postcode area, and her team of volunteers have secured the premises in Albone Way, Biggleswade.

OCC is run by the Samaritan’s Purse charity and is the largest children’s Christmas project in the world.

The charity has been sending gift-filled shoeboxes to disadvantaged children in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa since 1990, bringing joy to the lives of more than 80 million children.

Barbara said: “We can now use the warehouse that we used last year, which is great news as the situation had become quite desperate.

“It looks like it may be let to someone else from the start of December so we may just have it for four weeks but if we work quickly then that should be ok.”

OCC is on the look-out for volunteers and for boxes that have already been packed. To help out or for more information contact Barbara on 01767 627665.
