The assembly was given by Kier Homes, the company which is building the Millbrook Meadows homes in the village.

John Bright, area construction manager, and Kier Homes mascot Kieran, who is otherwise known as site operative Richard Jarvis, spoke to the children.

Inspired by the name of the development, Millbrook Meadows, and keen to encourage kids to enjoy the great outdoors safely this summer, Kier Homes also sponsored a miniature garden competition for the school’s 202 students. Prizes were presented to the winners.

Heather Yearsley, science co-ordinator, said: “A big thank you to Kier Homes for sponsoring this fantastic competition and for their invaluable safety talk.

“The miniature gardens were a huge hit and our pupils loved meeting Kieran. The assembly was a great way to get across an important message.”

John Bright said: “As Kier Homes will be on site in Gamlingay for many months to come it is important that young people know how to stay safe.

“The children really embraced the garden competition and we hope we have inspired them to safely make the most of their summer holidays this year, weather permitting!”
