A carjacking which left the victim in ‘total fear’ took place in Sandy on Tuesday evening last week.
Officers investigating the incident are appealing for anyone with information to come forward after a group of men demanded the keys to a woman’s BMW in Willow Rise at around 7.30pm.
The incident took place after the offending vehicle, described as a grey-blue Audi, knocked into the back of the victim’s car.
The victim’s belongings including a handbag and flowers were thrown out of the passenger window as the offenders drove the car away, in the direction of Station Road.
The car was later recovered in Hertfordshire with stolen plates, and has been seized for forensic analysis.
DC Paul Breed, the officer investigating the incident, said: “This appalling crime left the victim in total fear, feeling as though she had no choice but to hand over her car keys to an intimidating group of men.
“The offenders approached the victim after knocking their own vehicle into the back of her silver BMW 3-series.
“I would like to hear from anyone who saw cars matching either of these descriptions, or saw anything suspicious, in this area of Sandy, to contact me as soon as possible.
“I would also like to remind residents that their safety is paramount and that they should never attempt to confront criminals. We would reassure the community that we are doing all we can to trace those responsible for this crime.”
Anyone with information is asked to call DC Breed on 101.
