Carnival day will be full of celebrations

THE carnival will be a fantastic celebration of your town’s community spirit.

The Sandy Carnival committee held its first meeting on Thursday (October 13) and 11 people have said that they will take part in the organisations.

This is enough people to guarantee that the carnival will take place in 2012.

It was decided that the theme will be celebrations. This will compliment the national Queen’s diamond jubilee celebrations for 2012.

The committee discussed last year’s event and changes that needed to be made.

There will probably be a new starting point for the parade as the station was not felt to be entirely suitable but the new end point, Sunderland Road Recreation Ground was deemed a success. Other feedback was that residents would have liked the route to include the High Street.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, November 17 at 8pm in The Kings Arms. If you would like to help call Max Hill on 01767 681469.
