The long awaited Sandy Carnival will be held on Saturday (June 15).

The parade will start in All Saints Way at 1.30pm and make its way through the town, arriving at Sandye Place Academy at around 2pm.

The events field is on the school site. There will be a variety of stalls and activities for the whole family including beat the goalie, archery and the fairground, face painting, a burger stall, sweets and a beer tent for refreshments and a full arena of fun.

Get your cameras out because Sandy’s Ken Lynch is running a carnival photography competition. The theme of the contest is carnival fun and anyone from Sandy or Beeston can enter.

There are two categories; 12 and under and anyone over 12. Snap some fabulous pictures of the procession or other events and then send in up to three pictures each to Ken at 4 Pyms Way in Sandy. The closing date is Sunday, June 30. There will be cash prizes.

The Queen’s Head pub will be joining in the carnival celebrations from 3pm. Nexus Performing Arts Group will fundraise and premier their Summer of Love 2013 show. Sandy singer-songwriter, Sam Neighbour, will also hit the stage.

There will be a barbecue.
