St Swithun’s VC Lower School in Sandy has submitted a planning application for a new community room to be built on the school site.
The aim of the community room is to provide a purpose built space with separate crèche area, for parenting classes, adult learning courses and space for community groups within the local area.
One of the main reasons for the single storey extension is to help ensure that the children in the local area are ready for school by the age of five.
It will also allow us to increase the range of extra-curricular opportunities available to our children.
Headteacher Anita Whitehurst said: “We are hoping that this expansion to our current facilities will allow us to provide a wide range of activities to support our local community.
“We think it is a need in Sandy to reach out to parents to help them with things like literacy and numeracy.”
