Upper school could be in village

PARENTS hoping to start a new school have broadened their search for a site.

The initial plan for Potton Academy Free School was for it to be located within Potton.

But it could now be based within one of the surrounding villages. The organisers hope that this will enable them to open it sooner, given that they have not found any suitable sites within the town itself.

Spokesman, Naomi Marek, said: “We are still looking for suitable sites.

“Because of the fantastic support we have received, if we can get the right kind of building, we are now anticipating being able to open in September 2012.”

The group does not expect to gain enough funding to build a brand new building so will adapt an existing location.

Site ideas can be submitted at www.pottonacademy.co.uk

They have also decided to have two separate intakes, in Years 7 and 9 to accommodate both the nearby two and three tier education systems.
