Fall down the stairs led to death of man

A MAN was found dead in his home after falling down the stairs while drunk, an inquest heard on Tuesday, November 8.

Kevin Bone, of Oak Close in Sandy, was found in his home on Thursday, August 18 this year.

After not being able to contact him for two days relatives became worried and visited his home where they found him unresponsive with a piece of blooded gauze in his nose.

There was disorder in the front room which was consistent with a fall down stairs and a post mortem later revealed that he had died from a subdural haematoma; blood collecting between the skull and the brain.

Tests also revealed that Mr Bone had a level of alcohol in his system which would have had a “significant detrimental effect on his motor and cognitive functions.”

On recording his verdict of accidental death coroner David Morris said: “He had injuries consistent with a fall down stairs while affected by alcohol.”
