Paul Miller and Mandy Brundel, along with Paul’s two sons James and Lewis, will be running the Sandy 10 race hosted by Biggleswade Athletics Club in Sandy, on Sunday, April 10.

The family plan to raise as much money as possible to help contribute to the care Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice at Moggerhanger provides for its the community.

They are running in the memory of their dad and grandad who was cared for during his last days at the hospice.

John Miller, who was 78 and a retired toolmaker, died from pancreatic cancer.

Paul, 52, said: “The care that our dad received was absolutely amazing. The nurses looked after dad during his final weeks, and were very caring and understanding of his and our needs. Nothing was too much trouble in what was an emotional and scary time.

“These ladies and gentlemen are truly exceptional people with huge hearts and wonderful compassion. I hope that the money we raise will help more people at the hospice and show them our appreciation.”

Jan Blake, race director of the Sandy 10, said: “We know how important it is to keep fundraising for the hospice and many of us have experienced the work they do. It’s great to be working with Sue Ryder St John’s for the last eight years.”
