Farmers put on a real show!

LIVESTOCK showing, tractor skills and handicrafts were just some of the features of a young farmers’ county show on Saturday (May 21).

Frank Redman and Sons in Lower Gravenhurst was the venue for the Young Farmers Annual Country Show and Rally, where residents and members of young farmers’ clubs enjoyed a day of agricultural activities.

Biggleswade, Silsoe and Blunham Young Farmers’ Clubs competed against others in the county in a variety of different classes including the showing of livestock, show-jumping, tractor skills, cookery, flowers, welding and other skills and activities.

This year the event was hosted by Silsoe and District Young Farmers.

Young farmers’ clubs, open to young people aged 10 from to 26, enable members to learn new skills, socialise, compete together in a range of activities, from sports, activities and crafts to life skills such as public speaking, and offer opportunities to travel as well.
