Cheffins auctioneers are selling Gamlingay’s 3.35 acre Lupin Field on Wednesday, June 26 with a guide price of £150,000 to £160,000.

The field, situated by Green Acres, is outside the village boundary. Last year villagers fiercely opposed plans to build 20 affordable homes on the Lupin Field.

The planning application was refused by South Cambs District Council last June.

And now the council has designated the field as Local Green Space in its Local Plan. The plan will go through another round of consultation in the summer before it is adopted.

Once adopted it will be protected from all but exceptional development until the plan’s period ends in 2031.

The draft plan says: “Local green space identified on the policies map will be protected from development that would adversely impact on the character and particular local significance placed on such green areas which make them valued by their local community. Only in exceptional circumstances and in discussion with the local community would development be permitted.”
