A flipping good time as parents do battle in pancake races!

It was the second year the event has taken place and headteacher Nickie Moore was delighted with the turnout and the fun the children had.

She said: “I have been at the school for about a year now and it really underlines how well the school is doing and the improved reputation we have earned.”

The event itself consisted of a number of obstacles parents and teachers had to navigate while flipping a pancake along the way.

The obstacles included balancing along a bench, pulling a hoop over yourself and jumping over some mini hurdles.

Children lined up on one side and cheered on their parents and teachers while other parents who did not take part lined up on the other side of the playground to lend their support.

Although it was a bitterly cold morning the event was a resounding success with the relay providing the most entertainment and chaos.

As well as the pancake races showing the community spirit of the school, another child, Caitlin Gouck, who is in Year 3 is rasing money for War Child.

She has set herself a target of £1,000 by the end of the year and has current raised almost £300 through a variety of activities including making her father have his legs waxed!

Caitlin decided to raise the money after seeing a news story about a school in Syria being destroyed because of the conflict in the country.

After the pancake races were completed, children then had the opportunity to take part in a competition to see who could throw a pancake the furthest if they donated 20p.

After this it was back to school for the children but there were fresh pancakes on offer for them to celebrate what had been a terrific and fun day.

The pancake races will certainly be back again next year!
