Fundraising at the pub? We’ll drink to that!

A GROUP of fundraisers made sure their charity night was not short of Christmas spirit – or should that be spirits.

Some 50 drinkers took to the pubs of Biggleswade and Sandy for a night of fun and fundraising in aid of Keech Hospice Care.

The annual Christmas bash with a difference raised £1,700 for the charity.

The group, all members of Biggleswade Rugby Club or connected with the club in some way visited seven pubs in Biggleswade and two in Sandy, all dressed up in Christmas costumes.

Each reveller was asked to buy a drink at each pub and they also went round with collection buckets for Keech.

After spending time in most of the pubs in Biggleswade Market Square and the surrounding area the group caught a train to Sandy to finish the night’s work.

This was the seventh year that the fundraiser – organised by Terri Taylor and Vicki Marshall – has taken place.

Martin Harwood, press officer for the club said: “Around 50 people took part and they certainly made a night of it!

“That was the number that started but I’m not sure that quite that many finished!

“The club was keen to support Keech Hospice Care as it is an important charity for people in Bedfordshire.”

Keech Hospice Care provides specialist palliative care for adults and children diagnosed with a life-limiting or terminal illnesses.
