A donation of £1,000 has been handed to Keech Hospice Care from the Shefford Leisure Group, which fundraises every year for the centre.

The group, open to the community, fundraises during the year with raffles held on outings. The annual get-together for more than 70 people was held on Wednesday, March 16 at The Mount Pleasant Golf Club in Stondon when more than £270 was raised with a grand raffle.

Enid Pamment, chairman, said: “For this occasion prior to the event we visited Shefford shops and businesses requesting their support and we really are so touched at their generosity - not one person refused and we were able to display a bumper raffle table.”

Representative from Keech, Rebecca Eastwick, attended giving a short video on the history and work of Keech, who also accepted the cheque.
