Governors aim to keep school

Cambridgeshire County Council believes that to improve education in the area Gamlingay Village College (GVC) should be closed and the students sent to Bassingbourn.

In the council’s consultation document this was listed as Option 2.

But the middle school’s governors have announced their agreement with many of the parents by saying that Option 1 would be the best choice. This would be to keep the school open and pursue a federation with Stratton Upper School in Biggleswade, to which GVC is a feeder school.

In a letter to parents the governors wrote: “We believe it is in the long term best interests of the community for the school to improve and flourish.”
