Grave ornaments could be destroyed
Alan Digby-Cameron, of Stratford Road, Sandy, whose son is buried at the cemetery, was greeted with a plastic notice on the grave.
The notice said ‘toys, ornaments and lighting are not permitted on graves in this cemetery,’ and they should be ‘removed immediately’.

“They are showing no compassion, consideration or decency. They are supposed to serve the community and instead are causing distress.”
The notice went on to say if the graves were not cleared up by September 1 then the items would be disposed of by the council.
Sandy Town Mayor, Will Jackson, defended the move saying there was a need to remove the large quantity of items being left.
Councillor Jackson added: “We recognise this is a sensitive issue and regret any upset caused but our regulations are very clear.”
