A planning application has been submitted to Central Beds Council requesting permission to open a hand car wash and valeting operation on the new Tesco site in Sandy.

It would take up nine parking spaces.

The service would operate from 8am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 5pm on Sundays.

The application says: “Waves Consultancy has identified a business opportunity within the car park of Tesco and having gained consent from the car park owners we are applying for planning permission to provide an efficient and compliant car wash operation.

“Our proposal involves the erection of a canopy and the stationing of an office.
“The proposal is functional in its design and we do not believe it will be visually obtrusive due to its very limited size and height.

“We believe that the car park will have adequate capacity for this proposal, even at the busiest time of the year.”

The business would be expected to create four full time jobs and four part time jobs. There would be a water recycling unit to save up to 85 per cent of the fresh water.
