Police have succeeded in helping to rehome a stray pony after it was found wandering near the A1 at Wyboston.

Officers were called to reports that the small brown Shetland was on the loose on The Lane at around 7.30am on Tuesday, April 14.

An appeal to trace the animal’s rightful owner was launched, but it is now thought the plucky pony may have been deliberately abandoned.

PCSO James Loi said: “We contacted a Special Constable who specialises in equine crime within Bedfordshire Police, who has rehomed the pony with a local horse owner.

“They are going to take care of it until such time as anyone comes forward claiming it as theirs, and it will be in good hands.”
