Inquest date set into death of woman at bus station building site

At a pre-inquest review held this morning (January 12) HM Senior Coroner Thomas Osborne heard from Bedfordshire Police that the Crown Prosecution Service would not prosecute in the case of Nicola Berridge’s death.

Ms Berridge aged 53, of Potton Road, Biggleswade, died following a collision with a lorry at the bus station on February 20, 2015. The vehicle had been delivering sand to the bus station as part of ongoing improvement works.

Sitting at Ampthill Coroner’s Court, Mr Osborne established who would be called to give evidence at the inquest on Wednesday, April 27, including Bedford Borough Council and the Health and Safety Executive, which will supply the coroner with a risk assessment and method statement report relating to the construction work, in advance.

The inquest will also hear from contractors DJT Surfacing Ltd and C&Co Grab Hire Ltd, and two bus drivers and a passenger as witnesses.

Today’s review was attended by Ms Berridge’s brother Gary Berridge, who was representing the family.
