Beds Police is hosting a series of information evenings aimed at those with sights set on becoming a full-time police officer or a member of the Special Constabulary.

The force is interested in recruiting local people, with local knowledge, who reflect the diverse communities it serves.

The first information evening for would-be police officers will be held between 6.30pm and 8pm on Monday at force headquarters in Woburn Road, Kempston. The second will be between 6pm 
and 7.30pm at Bury Park Community Centre, Dunstable Road, Luton on Tuesday, February 24.

Guests, who will need to move fast to secure a place, can look forward to inputs from serving police officers, members of the training team and recruitment experts.

There will also be a question and answer session.

To be a police officer you need to be over 18, physically fit and of good character.

Those interested in becoming a Special Constable are being given three dates for their diaries. Presentations will be at Barnfield College, New Bedford Road, Luton, between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Tuesday, March 3 and and Monday, May 11, and at Kempston headquarters on Monday, April 13.

Special Constables need to be over 18 and prepared to commit 16 hours a month. They work shoulder to shoulder with regular officers, PCSOs and staff.
