Invite to see plans for new care home

A local exhibition is being held to show residents the plans for a proposed care home.

Car dealership Mantles Group, with Frontier Estates, is applying for planning permission to build a new 70-bed Care Home on their existing site in London Road, Biggleswade.

If plans are approved, the care home will replace a motor dealership currently on the site.

A spokesman for Mantles said: “As Biggleswade has changed over recent years with the growth in residential housing, the Directors of Mantles Group are mindful of the fact that the garage is now surrounded by houses and the site is no longer best suited to motor retailing.

John Mantle, Managing Director said: “We are looking at alternative locations for this business unit and, in considering the future of the London Road site, we are keen to put something back into Biggleswade by providing a facility of considerable benefit to local residents, with the creation of many new jobs, rather than simply giving the site over to more housing.

“We value our customers and staff greatly and we wish to continue to provide good, local service.

“We are seeking alternative locations from which we will still be able to look after our customer needs. We also value our manufacturer partnerships and we will endeavour to provide continuity with our service offering.”

Mantles has been a car dealership in the area for more than 96 years.

Both Mantles Group and Frontier Estates are keen to share their development plans at a local exhibition to be held at the Biggleswade Academy on Tuesday 14 March 4.30pm-8.30pm.
