Parkside Farm owner Phil Jellis and his partner Charlie Caress are euphoric after winning Best Independent Food Retailer of the Year at the prestigious Bedfordshire Food & Drink Awards 2016.
When the good news was delivered, they were still basking in the glow of having top Michelin chef Bruno Loubet turn their shop into a pop-up restaurant create a four course seasonal feast featuring local produce.
With delicious understatement, Phil said: “Things are really going well for us at the moment.
“It’s great that so many people voted for us – including Bruno and his wife Catherine – and it really encourages us to push forward with our business as there is clearly a high demand for food produced the way we do it.”
The couple were also delighted that one of their suppliers, Jo’s Loaves, was highly commended in the Best Artisan Bakery section.
Phil said: “Just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, Bruno and Catherine turned up to congratulate us.”
