A kingly evening of song

A CELEBRATED vocal ensemble will be breaking their world tour to perform in a Chronicle Country village.

The King’s Singers will be giving concerts in Moscow and Paris before travelling directly to Great Gransden. And afterwards they will continue their journey to sing in front of Warsaw audiences.

The proceeds raised will go towards two ongoing projects in Gransden; the restoration of the Little Gransden church tower and the overhaul of the swimming pool at Barnabas Oley Primary School.

Sylvia Sullivan, clerk to Little Gransden Parish Council, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have The King’s Singers here. They are incredibly famous and have been going for 40 years.

“Paul Phoenix, the tenor, happens to be a resident in the village. Amazingly he has managed to persuade all his colleagues to come to the village and also give us a concert. It’s a marvellous opportunity.”

The King’s Singers will be performing at Great Gransden Parish Church on Friday, May 27, starting with a drinks reception at 6.30pm. Tickets cost £40 and are available from Mrs Day on 01767 677872.
