A Biggleswade bride with terminal cancer married her fiance after receiving £8,500 on a fundraising page.

Lauren Barker, 27, and Ben Green, 26, married following a frantic month of planning after the Biggleswade Chronicle told Lauren’s story at the end of July.

Lauren was determined to get married before she lost her hair after having chemotherpay treatment.

She said: “It was absolutely perfect. I really can’t explain it. It was almost like a celebrity wedding. Everything went so smoothly. The whole day was perfect, we even had doves and fireworks!

“I want to say a big thank you to all those who donated any money and made this possible.”

However, Lauren did not have the lavish ceremony without good reason.

She added: “It was important for us to raise awareness of this terrible disease and thanks to the kindness of others we were able to do this. A special thanks to Ruby for creating our Facebook page.

“I would have been perfectly happy getting married in a registry office so to have had the support I have is overwhelming.”

Lauren received the devastating news her cervical cancer had returned and could no longer be cured at the end of July and moved her wedding to Ben forward almost immediately.

Speaking to those who had offered their support on the page Lauren said: “I promise to reply to every single one of you who has donated, it really means everything!”

Lauren and Ben first met on a dating website but things quickly became serious.
