
Rachel Radley was installed by Helen Nellis at a ceremony held at the Woburn Hotel on Wednesday, January 20.
Rachel, a year 12 students at Bedford Modern School, has been involved in the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) since year 9 and has reached the rank of Cadet Flight Sergeant in the RAF section.
She said: “I feel extremely honoured and proud to be representing the school. I’m really looking forward to all the events I’ll be attending and the new people I’ll get to meet, it’s a really exciting opportunity for me.”
Rachel balances her cadet work with her studies and hopes to study medicine at university.

The role of the cadets is to support the Lord-Lieutenant in carrying out her duties and their selection and appointment acknowledges their outstanding contribution to their cadet service and to the community.
Mrs Nellis said: “My cadets are the finest of the many talented young people in our cadet forces within Bedfordshire. They are excellent leaders and a credit to their organisations and to the county. They contribute so much to the activities undertaken in their units, squadrons and services and are great role models to their colleagues and those who will follow.”
