Dr Wendy Momen was invested with her MBE by Prince Charles at a ceremony in the Grand Ballroom of Buckingham Palace on Friday, January 30.
She was awarded the MBE for services to the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, and to the community of Northill.
Dr Momen has served as a magistrate since 1982, including nine years as a vice-chairman and two years as chairman of the Family Panel,.
She was also Trustee of the Luton and Bedfordshire Community Foundation for nine years, and spend 27 years on successive National Health Service Boards for Bedfordshire.
She was also a parish councillor for Northill for seven years, a member of the Bedford Council of Faiths and has supported the Baha’i community of Bedfordshire.
