A Miss Bedfordshire hopeful who works in Biggleswade has reached the semi-finals of the competition.
Michaella Beckwith, 20, from Silsoe, works as an admin assistant for the Town Council and as well as competing she has been raising money for Miss England charity, ‘Beauty With a Purpose’.
I decided to enter Miss Bedfordshire to help with my confidence as I have always been very shy and lacked confidence which can be a hindrance as it makes it hard to make new friends and be in new situations.Michaella Beckwith
She entered the competition in February and has so far reached the semi-finals.
She said: “I decided to enter Miss Bedfordshire to help with my confidence as I have always been very shy and lacked confidence which can be a hindrance as it makes it hard to make new friends and be in new situations.
“However, I thought that the Miss Bedfordshire pageant was a prime opportunity to throw myself into the deep end and try to overcome this.”
Alongside entering the competition Michaella has been working tirelessly to raise money for charity.
She added: “I have been raising money for ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ whose aim is to help disabled and disadvantaged children within England.
“I have put a lot of effort into finding prizes for a raffle and was surprised to find that many companies in and around Bedfordshire were very supportive.
“I also organised a charity coffee morning in Biggleswade which I found very enjoyable as events organisation is something i would like to be a part of eventually.
“I have really enjoyed raising money for charity and although it has been hard work I find it very rewarding knowing all the effort I’ve put in will help children who need it.”
To get to the semi-finals Michaella has had to take part in a number of challenges.
Just last weekend she took part in the fitness round of the competition where she was one of the final three entrants left standing after an excruciating bleep test.
She said: “I surprised myself with how far I got and am pleased with how far I managed to push myself.
“To win the title of Miss Bedfordshire would be amazing! It would mean all the hard work I’ve put into the competition had paid off and it would give me the opportunity to compete in the Miss Engalnd finals.”
The semi-finals of the competition are set to be held on Sunday at Luton Rugby Club.
