A charity ball organised by a Sandy businesswoman has raised £12,000 for four charities. The ball, held at the Barns Hotel, Bedford, was the idea of Julie Sammells, pictured, who runs Just Bliss Holistics and is a mum of five. The ball on Friday, June 5 welcomed more than 100 guests, with dozens of raffle and auction prizes.

Fund raised will go to Keech Hospice Care, Help for Heroes, Fire Fighters trust and St John’s Hospice, Moggerhanger. Julie was helped by friends Sarah Durkin, Emily Ellis and Charlotte Rickard.

Sarah said: “The ball was an amazing event. Julie is an incredible lady who has achieved something great for the charities. I am especially thankful as Keech Hospice care for my little girl.”

Her daughter Laura said: “My mum is truly one of a kind. She has done an incredible job with this ball and I don’t think any ordinary person could produce something as amazing what she has done. I and all my brothers are extremely proud of her. I would also like to thank all the companies, clubs and businesses who donated to the ball with their generous raffle and auction prizes.”
