Nadine: ‘I’m back at work’

Jungle MP Nadine Dorries claims that she has set up an office in her Australian hotel room to serve the people of Mid Beds.

In an interview with the Daybreak programme Nadine, who has been criticised for leaving her constituents for a month to appear on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, claimed that other MPs also take weeks off during parliamentary time.

She said: “In all my seven-and-a-half years I’ve never taken a day off in parliamentary time, other MPs take between four and six weeks a year.”

She added: “There’s been an office set up in my hotel room and I’ve already been back at work.

“As soon as I got out of the jungle I was straight back to work. Its interesting actually because some of the emails and stuff that I’ve seen while I’ve been away from the UK states that I’ve not bee there for my constituents. But actually I worked right till the second I left, I worked all the way through the summer recess and only had four days away during the summer when other MPs were abroad for four to five weeks at a time. I did surgeries right up until I left and only one person has booked in for next month’s surgery.”

She added: “My office has been manned, my staff have been working hard and I’m back to work already.”
