'˜Nasty' assault on Stotfold woman in her own home

Robbers used flowers to talk their way into a woman's Stotfold home before assaulting her and escaping with jewellery.

Police are appealing for information following the distraction burglary in Waters End, Stotfold on Friday (22 July).

At around 12.15pm, a man knocked on the door of the victim’s home with a bunch of flowers and told her they were for her.

Two other men then appeared and pushed the victim back into her home. They assaulted her and demanded money, before searching the property and stealing several items of jewellery.

The man holding the flowers was black, with short hair, was clean shaven, believed to be in his 20s, of average build, with dark eyes. He was wearing a dark blue fine knit jumper with square shapes on it and dark jogging bottoms.

The second man was also black, around 5’6”, slim, in his early 20s, with bushy hair. He was wearing dark jogging bottoms and a dark blue hooded top.

The third man was described as Asian, 5’7”, in his mid-20s, with light brown eyes. He was wearing a dark blue hooded top, black jogging bottoms, and had a blue and white paisley bandana which he wore across his face.

Detective Constable Luke Moore, investigating, said: “This is a particularly nasty incident and I would urge anyone who knows who is responsible to come forward.

“We believe the flowers used to distract the victim were bought in the Stotfold area, and would also urge anyone in the area who remembers selling these flowers in the days running up to 22 July, or on the day itself, to come forward.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Moore via 101 quoting crime reference number JD/29272/2016. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
