New classroom for Shefford school

A NEW classroom is being built at a lower school to meet the needs of one Chronicle Country town.

Shefford Lower School will be adding the new classroom to its buildings as the town looks forward to expanding in years to come.

As new housing has been built in Shefford more families have moved to the town and this has led to pressures on pupil numbers, especially in the School Lane school’s reception year.

The project will be funded by Central Bedfordshire Council and the expansion will also include a multi-purpose meeting room which will be used for a variety of learning activities.

The project is the first of a series of expansions proposed for the school which may see it increase in size from 300 places to 450 in the future.
