Northill student’s Ugandan project

A STUDENT will enjoy an education of a different kind over the summer – when she helps to renovate an African school.

Liberty Sanders, of Northill, will take a break from her advertising, PR and media degree to work on the educational project in Uganda.

Middlesex University student Liberty, 20, will spend five weeks in the town of Jinja with the Soft Power Educatiin charity and is due to leave on June 2.

Soft Power Education works with communities in Uganda to improve quality if life through education, and former Stratton Upper School pupil Liberty wants to ensure her summer break is productive.

She said: “The summer holidays are quite long and I really wanted to do something worthwhile.

“At our freshers’ week fair there were quite a few charities and other organisations advertising what they did and when I heard about the Soft Power Education project I wanted to sign up straight away.”

Some 20 students from Middlesex University will travel to Jinja, and will follow in the footsteps of others who have made significant progress in the town during past visits.

Liberty is still looking to raise sponsorship money before she leaves.
