Parents enjoy maths in a number of ways

PARENTS discovered the latest methods of teaching mathematics at a special numeracy evening.

Robert Peel Lower School opened its doors to the adults and showed them how the children practise maths from nursery through to Year 4.

Headteacher, Dave Saunders, said: “It started with a talk in the hall then the parents could move around the classes and join the activities.

“At parents’ evening lots of parents said they were unsure of how maths is taught so we thought ‘let’s do a maths evening.’

“80 odd parents came so it was a surprisingly good turnout.”

Subjects covered included maths in cookery and everyday situations, different ways to add, number lines, partitioning numbers and maths games.
