Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue pay tribute on Firefighters Memorial Day

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service held a two minute silence on Monday, May 4, for Firefighters Memorial Day.

Crews from a number of stations across the county, including Luton, Dunstable and Bedford took time out of their schedule to pay tribute to the firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Chair of the Fire Authority, Councillor John Chatterley, attended Dunstable Community Fire Station to support the crews during their two minute silence remembering their bravery and sacrifice.

Cllr John Chatterley said: “We are extremely fortunate to have such a wonderful team serving our communities in Bedfordshire.

"Thank you all at Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service for everything that you do and for your commitment and dedication in keeping our residents safe."

HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis, said: "I wanted to express my respect and my gratitude to those who have lost their lives or been injured in the line of duty.

"Thank you all for everything you are doing for us in this time of emergency. Please keep safe and well."
